Known in Persian as Firoozeh (فیروزه) and in Arabic as Fairuz (فيروز), Nishaburi turquoise is characterized by its robin’s-egg blue colour, more vivid, more consistent, and more deeply saturated than Afghan, Chinese, or American turquoise, with the fine black or brown matrix veining that is the hallmark of genuinely mined rather than treated stone.
