Full-Grain Cowhide — Why the Leather Matters

Most leather goods sold internationally use corrected-grain or bonded leather — materials that have been sanded, buffed, and coated to hide natural imperfections and create a uniform surface. Full-grain leather, by contrast, retains the complete surface of the hide — every natural variation, every grain pattern unique to that animal and that hide.

It is the strongest, most breathable, and most durable grade of leather available. Over years of use, full-grain cowhide develops a patina — a darkening and deepening of colour in areas of frequent contact — that is the unmistakable mark of a bag that has been used and loved.

Our artisans in Mashhad select each hide individually before cutting, rejecting any leather that does not meet their standard for grain consistency, thickness, and natural marking.
