Setar Malekshahi is one of the most famous three tars in Iran. Few people are familiar with three tars but have not heard the name of Ostad Malekshahi. The quality of construction, good sound, and maintaining quality in different environmental conditions have made this instrument one of the most well-known three strings.
The size of the bowl of this instrument is medium, and the sound balance is maintained. No muffled sound or additional ringing is heard in this setar instrument. The sound of the instrument is very loud, which is due to the instrument’s material, which is made of mulberry wood. The use of walnut wood in the handle plays an important role in maintaining the handle’s balance and correcting the handle’s lack of shine. The warping of the handle is one of the problems caused by three strings, but the use of walnut wood guarantees maintaining the level of the handle.
This instrument is the basic model. The Bowl and Board are made of Mulberry wood, and the Neck is made of Walnut wood. This Persian musical instrument is the third grade among my instruments, and it is recommended for people who want to start learning Setar.
